dibs.

Free stuff alerts

A free couch near you is usually claimed by whoever messages first. Dibs watches the free listings on Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist and OfferUp and tells you the minute a new one goes up.

3 saved searches free, no card.

What it watches

Facebook Marketplace
Listings marked Free near your Marketplace location, newest first.
Craigslist
The free stuff section of your Craigslist area, newest first.
OfferUp
Listings at $0 near your OfferUp location, newest first.

Add words — couch, crib, firewood — to hear only about those. Leave them out to hear about everything free.

Only the free things

Priced listings stay quiet
Anything with a price is left out, and so are titles with “sale”, “looking for”, “obo”, “make offer”, “trade”, “sold”, “pending” and 12 more words that mark a sale, a service or a want ad. The list is on your search, to change.
Once each
You hear about each listing once, the first time dibs sees it.
Where you look
A notification on your phone, Telegram, Discord or email, with the photo, the place and a link straight to the listing.

What dibs won’t do

  • Run with your computer off. The watching happens in Chrome on your computer; your phone is where the alerts land.
  • Watch Nextdoor, Buy Nothing groups or Freecycle. Dibs watches Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist and OfferUp.
  • Catch every listing that isn’t really free. On Facebook and OfferUp some businesses list at $0 without saying so in the title.
  • Check Craigslist more than 800 times a day per account, shared by all your Craigslist searches.

Questions people ask

How do I get alerts for free stuff on Facebook Marketplace?
On Facebook, search Marketplace, set the maximum price to 0, save the search and turn on saved-search notifications; Facebook does not say how soon they arrive. With dibs, turn on “Free stuff only” and it reads Facebook’s free listings near your Marketplace location, newest first.
Can I get alerts for Craigslist free stuff?
Craigslist’s own saved-search emails work on its free stuff section, and they are free. Dibs reads the same section for your area on your plan’s interval, and sends it to your phone, Telegram, Discord or email instead.
Can I set it up from my phone?
Yes. Sign up on dibs.deals, turn on “Free stuff only”, and the search waits for the dibs extension in Chrome on your computer. The alerts come to your phone.
Why did I get an alert for something that isn’t free?
Some sellers and businesses list at $0 to get seen. A free search starts out leaving out listings with a price and titles with words like “sale”, “looking for”, “obo”, “make offer”, “trade”, “sold” and “pending”; if one gets through, add its giveaway word to the search’s “Not” list.
What does it cost?
Nothing to start: 3 saved searches, checked every 15 minutes, no card. Paid plans check more often.
